One half of the evening will be devoted to Table Topics, our impromptu speaking section, and the other half will be devoted to members' Prepared Speeches, Evaluations and the presenting of Ribbons …
A great night was had with quite a number of members and 4 guests attending. It was a night full of committee members, with our Toastmaster for the evening being Geoff our Vice-President of Education and Table Topics Master Pam who is our Joint Vice-President for Membership.
We had a whopping 10 Table Topic speakers, including all 4 of the guests, who chose to take part, including Paul, a first timer to Toastmasters. Well done!
The questions were varied and encompassed topics such as job hunting, favourite books and whether the bluntness of children is a good or bad thing. Choosing a winner proved hard, and ultimately we ended up awarding a joint 1st place to third time guest, Mano, and a long standing member, Natalie.
The committee member theme continued through into the speeches as Karen Lee, our Vice-President of Public Relations and Natalie, the club's Secretary, both battled it out for the award of Best Speaker. Although they have both been in the club for a number of years and have worked through past awards, they were both beginning on Toastmasters' new learning structure - Pathways, and so they were both starting with their first Icebreaker speeches.
Best Table Topics Award - Mano Manoharan & Natalie Kay
Best Evaluator Award - Shyamenda Purslow
Best Speaker Award - Natalie Kay
